Creamed Spinach


1/2 bunch spinach 

1/2 onion cubed

2 Tbs butter 

2 Tbs Maizena (cornflour) 

1/4 tsp white pepper powder 

1/2 tsp black pepper

1/2 tsp mustard powder

1 tsp fine salt 

11/2 to 2 cups milk(depending on consistency that you require) 


Steam spinach in pot together with the cubed onions until done. Do not close the pot (to retain the colour) and set aside.


White Sauce

Melt butter in a pot, once melted add in maizena, white pepper powder, black pepper, mustard powder and salt. Stir until a paste forms. Pour in milk and stir continuously until the sauce thickens. Do not leave sauce unattended as it may become lumpy. Once sauce is thickened add in prepared spinach.
