TRADITIONAL COTTAGE PIE


Easy meals for busy people

 

500g Beef Mince

1 med Onion chopped

2 tbsp Sunflower oil

2 tins Diced Tomatoes

4 tbsp tomato paste

1/2 tsp Nutmeg

1 tsp Salt

1 tbsp Origanum 

2 Cloves of Garlic

3 Carrots grated


Mash Potatoes


4 med Potatoes

1/2 cup Fresh Cream

2 tbsp Butter

1 tsp Salt

3 tbsp Grated Parmesan Cheese


Method


Place the onions and oil into a pot fry on a medium temperature for 5 minutes until soft.

Add the Beef, fry for another 10minutes.

Add the tomatoes, tomato paste, nutmeg, salt, origanum, carrots and garlic. 

Simmer for 30 minutes.


Peel the potatoes, cut them into quarters. 

Place them into hot water and boil until soft, approximately 20 minutes.

Strain the potatoes.

Add butter and cream whisk the potatoes into smooth creamy mash.


Place the mince into an oven dish.  

Carefully spoon the mashed potatoes onto the meat.

Sprinkle parmesan over the top and bake at 180 ℃ for 30 minutes
